Thanksgiving is the time of year when we put everyday life on hold, gather with our loved ones, and reflect on everything for which we are thankful. One of the blessings that each member our team will be counting this year is the rewarding experience of developing long-lasting relationships with our clients.
We are lucky to have the unique opportunity to work as a partner with our customers to design their exhibit, get to know their staff, and learn about their business, their industry, and their goals. We enjoy watching the evolution of a project from the brainstorming stages to the final shipment to the trade show. Nothing makes us happier than hearing that a display we fabricated looked immaculate on the trade show floor and that the staffers were very successful is generating leads.
Without the support of our clients, we would not be able to do what we love doing everyday. Bill wouldn’t be able to design eye-catching graphics that tell the story of a client’s brand, Troy wouldn’t be able to act as a “ trade show architect” and continually innovate new structures for an exhibit, Francine would not be able to stand by her clients’ side while they receive awards and recognition for their great accomplishments, and I would not be able to spend time developing new relationships at local trade shows, networking events, and through social media.
On behalf of the FBD2 team, I would like to thank all of our clients for their loyalty throughout the years and wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

As the New Year dawns upon us, so too rises another Trade Show season. Hopefully you are refreshed and relaxed from the holidays, and can approach the upcoming year with a fresh outlook and a positive attitude. Whether you attended one show or a dozen, now is the time to recap and review what worked and what you need to improve upon the next time around.
As a reminder, here are several essential points to consider in planning your yearly Trade Show strategy:
What do you hope to get out of the trade show experience?
- Are you focusing on promoting or launching a new product?
- Who is your target audience?
- Is it time to consider an International show, which is a great forum to reach exhibitors and attendees from all over the globe?
- Is a National show, which attracts targeted attendees from a 300-mile radius and beyond, a better approach for your company?
- Don’t discard Regional and Local shows, which attract attendees from the immediate vicinity.
When choosing a trade show, make sure that it is within your budget, in a serviceable location, it occurs at a convenient time, and attracts your target audience.

The Fourth of July is right around the corner, which means almost 35 million Americans will be traveling during the holiday weekend. With a break from work and (hopefully) beautiful weather, it is very common to take vacations during this time. And though we all love time off from work, it can be stressful leaving the office and all our work behind for a week’s vacation. Here are some reassuring numbers that will make you feel a little less guilty about taking time off from work:
- 50% of people say they experience a 10-25% decrease in work stress following a vacation
- Post-vacation performance improves nearly 25% compared to performance before vacation
- People age 45 and older had 50% better post-vacation performance
- Travelers reported 68% less stress during their vacation
- 80% reported having a more positive outlook about their jobs when they take time away
- 84% reported feeling rejuvenated and reconnected with family and friends after vacation
If you are skimping out on your vacation it could lead to health problems involving high stress, exhaustion, lack of sleep, heart disease and even more serious problems, not to mention negative impact on personal relationships with friends and family as well as work productivity.
“Employees’ performance actually goes up after taking vacation and after breaks,” says Joe Robinson, author of Work to Live: The Guide to Getting a Life and founder of the Work to Live movement. “Several companies in my book found that when they increased the vacation time they offered to employees, the overall business productivity increased and company morale soared.”
You’ve worked very hard and earned a vacation, make sure you take advantage of it! The more you relax and rest the better you will be when you return to work.
FBD2 will be closed for the week of July 5th to allow our team to enjoy a well-deserved vacation. But we promise we will be back and better than ever when we reopen on Monday, July 12th!
Happy Fourth of July!

FB Displays & Designs Inc. president, Francine Brooks attended this year’s Exhibitor Conference and Exhibition. Francine returns with tales of new, innovative products and high hopes for the future of trade show marketing.
“There are more new products introduced at Exhibitor Show than any other industry events. In addition to meeting key contacts, attendees have the opportunity to network with their peers and share best practices. In light of the current economy, Exhibitor 2010 re-energized everyone involved in trade show marketing,” says Francine.
Exhibitor 2010 took place from March 14th – 18th in Las Vegas, NV. The show was not only geared toward those in the trade show industry, but it also proved to be an excellent learning experience for those looking into trade show marketing. There were a variety of very informative seminars such as exhibiting strategies, lead management, show operation, and much more.
The exhibition portion of the show that ran from March 15th – 17th provided a very positive outlook for the future of the trade show industry. Hundreds of exhibitors brought out the big guns and put on a mesmerizing show. The new products on display represent a new age that transforms durability, ease of use, and transport into one seamless entity.
